Welcome! I’m Dr. Melissa Kerley and I’m ready to help you learn French in the DC Metro Area and online! I specialize in French exam prep but also offer a variety of French tutoring services tailored to your individual needs.
I have a Ph.D. in French from Tulane University and over 30 years experience teaching the French language. In the course of my career I’ve taught French to every academic grade (preschool through graduate school) in traditional academic settings and I’ve given private French tutoring lessons to people of all ages and proficiency levels. I’ve lived and studied extensively in France with additional study in Germany, Italy, Mexico, and French Canada. At The Field School in Washington DC I served as head of the Foreign Language Department for 3 years. I even ran my own language school (Speak Abroad) in Vero Beach, Florida, for four years.
I specialize in exam prep! I have a special talent for teaching people a lot of French very quickly so they can pass important exams. The Foreign Service Institute (FSI) French language test, French language proficiency exams for M.A. and Ph.D. candidates, the DELF, the IB French B Exam and the AP French exam are just a few I have helped with over the years. I also offer crash courses that help people get their French where it needs to be in order to meet other types of imminent deadlines. Not only do I teach French online really fast – I also teach it really well.
