Poisson d’Avril

On April Fools’ Day in France children make and decorate paper fish and then tape them to people’s backs.  When their “victim” finds the paper fish on his/her back the person who put it there calls out “Poisson d’Avril” (“April Fish”).

As the preschool and elementary school where I teach were out of session on April 1st I have been celebrating with my 2-8 year old students since Monday. . .and as such have spent the last 48 hours covered in paper fish!
