About Dr. Kerley

My range of experience teaching French makes me uniquely qualified to create and conduct a French course for you. I specialize in Exam Prep and offer Private Tutoring and Online Classes

For over 30 years, I have taught and created curricula for every academic grade and every level and type of French class. I know exactly where students need to be at any given point in their career, the preparation needed, and the expectations for subsequent French levels.  I can even create a program that gets students where you need to be in the most efficient way possible.

In the course of my career I taught high school for ten years, middle school for three years, elementary school for two years, preschool for six years and college for four years.  I have prepared students for the AP French exam, the IB French exam, the SAT II in French exam and numerous academic competitions.  I even worked online with a student from Japan on French language and literature for a year to help her prepare for the University of Tokyo’s entrance exam.

If you would like to speak with me French tutoring in DC, NoVA, or online,  please fill out the Contact Me form or feel free to send me a text or give me a call.

À bientôt j’espère!

Dr. Kerley’s Team

Kate has worked at French in DC since 2019. She began working as a French tutor and social media coordinator after returning from a year of work and study in southeast France. She has studied in Paris and Annecy, and has plans to work towards her M.A. in Education starting in 2021. Some of her favorite places in France include: Les Jardins du Luxembourg (Luxembourg Gardens), Lyon, Dijon, and La Côte d’Azur (The French Riviera). She enjoys the plays of Molière, the paintings of Monet, and the songs of Edith Piaf. Her favorite part of working at French in DC is meeting new students and visiting French museums/cafés with Dr. Kerley.
